Mawlamyine၊ March (18)
As fuel prices have skyrocketed since the military coup, it is difficult to supply water to areas where water is scarce, the relief group said.
Mon State experiences water scarcity every summer and Belin, Thaton, Paung, Malamyine and Chaungzon townships face water shortages.
The donors are struggling to provide water to water-scarce areas, a relief official said.
“Apart from rising fuel prices, there is also pressure on philanthropic activities,” he said.
The villages by the sea have insufficient access to purified drinking water.
In addition, there is a shortage of drinking water in cities due to power outages and most of them have to deal with it on their own.
To solve this problem, the military council now plans to pump the water by drilling machines and distribute to those in need.
