Kyainseikkyi, March (15)

The clashes broke out between the combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and junta troops in Kyainseikgyi, Karen State around 9 am on March 14, the residents said.

Near the 32nd Infantry regiment of the Military Council of Kyainseikgyi, the two sides exchanged fire starting around 9 am and stopped 30 minutes later.

However, around 10 am, another clash took place west of Mingalar Hill in Kyainseikgyi. After heavy artillery fire from the military council’s strategic hill, a local man was wounded and taken to hospital, according to the residents.

After the clashes, there was no movement around the city, and the residents got into a panic.

After the KNU’s 6th Brigade sent a letter to Military Council to withdraw troops from their area in Dooplaya District, military tensions on both sides have escalated and there also have been clashes in Kawkareik Township.
