In Mon State, the coup junta has supplied handguns to the Assistant Director levels of the offices of General Administration Departments of Townships, Districts and State, the people close to the military council said.
The coup council has given a pistol to each officer of the General Administration Department to prevent them from being assassinated and to defend themselves.
After the subordinate village administrators were often assassinated, the General Administration Department supplied the guns to the officers.
The guns were first given in the first week of this month, the source close to the military council said.
The military council has only given pistols to the General Administration Department, not the heads of the other departments.
In Mon State, the offices of the coup junta have been frequently attacked and among them, the departmental offices in Kyaikto and Belin townships were hit the most.
