In the afternoon of March 14, the Mayangchaung checkpoint, a combined inspection gate of military council, in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, was attacked, KNU Brigade 1 Thaton District Chairman Pado Saw Soe Myint said.
The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 1 and PDF joint group attacked the checkpoint in Mayangchaung with 40 mm artillery shell.
Pado Saw Soe Myint said the shooting lasted for nearly 15 minutes and left two junta soldiers dead and six wounded.
After the two sides exchanged fire, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 1 and the PDF Coalition successfully withdrew unharmed.
After the Mayangchaung checkpoint was attacked, there was an explosion inside a rubber plantation by the light and heavy artillery fire of the military council but no civilians were injured.
The KNLA Brigade 1 and the PDF joint team have frequently attacked military council’s checkpoints in Kyaikto Township.
