Because of the intense fighting between the junta troops and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in the KNU Brigade 6 – controlled Dooplaya District, more locals are fleeing to Thailand, the refugees said.

The fighting took place for several hours between the military council troops, who were operating in KNU-controlled areas, and KNLA joint forces on March 27 with two airstrikes by the military council.



Due to the fact that the military shells fired by the plane landed near Baladoh village, more than 200 people of 48 households there have fled, with some fleeing across the river to the Thai side.

In addition, more than 300 local people from the three villages of Htee Kapale, Tha Waw Thaw and Ukri Khee in the KNU-controlled area of Dooplaya District have gone into hiding near the Thai border due to the fighting near Wal Lay – Sukali and they are having problems with drinking water, medicine and housing.

More than 30,000 local civilians are currently fleeing the ongoing military conflict in the KNU Brigade 6 area of Dooplaya District, said the rescue workers.
